I'm new to the world of role playing, and I'm not ashamed to admit it. I started off less than a year ago, after I joined an RP site that was based around one of my favorite movies. It was an incredible amount of fun, and I enjoyed myself an awful lot. But, as is often the case, the site shut down only a couple of weeks after I had registered. It sucked, right after I had finally started getting my character involved with the plot, the place shut down. Well, I couldn't just stop RPing after I had started, I had caught the bug, so I started looking for a new place to join. But whether it was the ten page biography the site wanted as an application, or a plot that only seemed to involve a select few, something always seemed to scare me away.

And that's when I found The Black Pullet through an advertisement on RPG Directory, and long story short, I think that I've finally found a permanent home for my character. There are numerous reasons as to why, so I'll lay them out for you point by point:

  • Activity, Life of the Board

After my experiences with boards getting shut down, I wanted to be apart of a place that I knew wouldn't end up closing in a month. There is no worries of that here. The place has been around for a long time, much longer than I've been apart of the RPing world, and there are quite a few members that are active every day. There isn't a lot of worry about you getting involved in a thread, and then seeing your partner disappear for months on end. And, if for some strange reason that does happen, FATE is always there to help you out.

  • Open Plot:

Yes. This was one of the biggest reasons as to why I joined, and one of the biggest reasons as to why I'm still on the site. The plot doesn't constrain me in any way shape or form, nor does it leave me feeling like I'm on the outside of the world. The plot is open enough to give everyone the ability to do their own thing, and you're not going to feel like you're being left out.

  • The Place Will Help You Grow As a Writer

The place challenged me as a writer, in a good way. You're not going to be torn apart for every little typo or grammatical flaw, but you'll often have to think twice about what you're writing and what the ramifications will be of your character's decisions. FATE can twist around a thread in ways that you didn't think possible, and the other writers on the site are always going about things in ways that I would never have thought of. This means that oftentimes I have to adapt the way I normally go about doing things, which makes the process of role playing all the more fun to be involved in!

  • Great Admins!

No, I'm not kissing butt. The admins really are there to help you out with major character choices and plot decisions, and they don't feel like some inaccessible god that you're only allowed access to by first getting through his/her clique of friends. If you want to get involved in the plot right away, they'll help you out. If you have questions of any sort, they'll answer them. They're not pompous and over the top, and they actually get their characters involved in the roleplay!

  • Welcoming Environent, and Friendly People

This is probably the most important point for me, and probably for most other people as well. When you get on the site, you don't have to beg to roleplay with people, and you don't feel like you're scarred with some kind of abnormality due to everyone ignoring your existence. People there don't discriminate who they roleplay with, and they're always open to new ideas and new ways of doing things. I had absolutely NO problems roleplaying with others on the site, and people make you feel welcomed immediately. This was huge, especially because so many places have this kind of clique attitude among members who have been apart of the site for a while.
[/list]

So there you have it. Way too long and drawn out, but I think I hit on all the reasons as to why I like the site. Oh, I forgot about sheep, and sausages, but I don't know if I need to devote a bullet point to either one of those things.
